About the Tour
This full-day excursion into the countryside of Bahia is an opportunity to learn about rural activities and discover traces of the colonial period.
Departure in the morning, transfer from the hotel towards Cachoeira. On the way, visit a sugarcane, cocoa, and cassava plantation. Arrival in Cachoeira by late morning and lunch at Fazenda Santa Cruz, a traditional farm in the region.
Cachoeira is home to numerous colonial-style mansions and churches, as well as the headquarters of the Boa MorteBrotherhood. Founded in the 19th century to ease the suffering of enslaved people, Boa Morte is one of the most representative expressions of religious syncretism in Brazil.
Crossing the Paraguaçu River over a metal bridge built by the English at the end of the 19th century, which connects the towns of Cachoeira and São Félix. Visit to the Danemann cigar factory. Return to Salvador in the late afternoon.
Notes:
The cigar factory is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The Santo Amaro and Cachoeira street markets take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Duration: Approximately 8 hours (with meal).
Departure and Arrival: Salvador (hotel or airport)
Tip: Avoid Sundays and long holidays.
