About the Tour

Blending history with today’s agricultural reality, this mini itinerary is an immersion into rural Bahia and a journey through the memory of this region, once an important agricultural center during the colonial period.

Day 01: Salvador/São Francisco do Conde/Santo Amaro/Cachoeira (135 km)

In the morning, departure towards the Recôncavo region. Arrival in the small village of São Francisco do Conde and visit to the Church and Convent of Santo Antônio (17th century). After the visit, head to the shore of the Bay of All Saints to enjoy the surrounding landscapes. Continue to Santo Amaro and visit the “Recolhimento de Nossa Senhora dos Humildes” Museum. Housed in an 18th-century convent, the museum features religious objects and furniture, with saint ornaments entirely handmade by the cloistered women. Visit the local market and proceed to the historic town of Cachoeira, stopping at a cocoa plantation managed by the Landless Workers’ Movement. Arrival in Cachoeira late morning and lunch at Pousada do Carmo, an 18th-century complex converted into a hotel and restaurant. Afterwards, visit the Church of the Third Order of Carmelites, followed by a stroll through the streets of Cachoeira. At the end of the day, transfer to Vila Rial farm (4 km from Cachoeira). Check-in at the country hotel and dinner.

Day 02: Cachoeira/São Gonçalo/Salvador (140 km)

Morning visit to the farm (the region’s first dairy producer), with its milk production facilities and tropical fruit plantations. The farm has 700 hectares and a herd of 1,200 dairy cows, mainly Jersey breed. Lunch at the farm. Afterward, return via Cachoeira and São Félix, this time crossing the iron bridge over the Paraguaçu River, built by the English in the late 19th century. Stop in Governador Mangabeira to visit a modern tobacco plantation, then continue to São Gonçalo dos Campos to visit a cigar factory. This region is Brazil’s leading tobacco producer, and its cigars are exported worldwide. Return to Salvador, transfer to hotel or airport. Free evening.
