About the Tour:
History and nature blend together in this circuit, which includes two of the former diamond mining sites of Chapada: the village of Igatu and the town of Lençóis, with the best transportation and accommodation options available in the region.
Day 1 – Salvador / Lençóis (461 km)
Departure from Salvador in the early morning by road to Chapada Diamantina. Around midday, arrival at the village of Igatu, check-in at the pousada and lunch. In the afternoon, visit the surroundings of the village. Located at almost 1,000 meters of altitude, Igatu had its peak during the diamond boom. Nowadays, the village is almost abandoned, but the ruins of the old town, embedded in the mountain slopes, make it one of the most beautiful places in the region. Dinner at the pousada.
Day 2 – Igatu / Poço Encantado / Mucugê / Igatu (96 km)
After breakfast, visit Poço Encantado (35 km). Dinner not included. This is an underground lagoon with a depth of 60 meters. Sunrays penetrate through a natural opening.
Day 3 – Lençóis / Ribeirão do Meio and Ribeirão de Baixo (Hiking) / Lençóis
In the morning, hike along the Ribeirão do Meio, a river known for its flat and smooth stones that form natural water slides. Visit also Ribeirão de Baixo. Snack included. Return to Lençóis in the early afternoon. Meals not included.
Day 4 – Lençóis / Rio Serrano / Sand Cave (Hiking) / Lençóis / Salvador (425 km)
In the morning, guided visit to the surroundings of the city, including Rio Serrano with its natural pools, Primavera and Cachoeirinha waterfalls, and Poço Halley. Continue to the Sand Cave, a rocky cavity where colorful sand is extracted and used to create small decorative bottles. Snack included. Early in the afternoon, return to the hotel. Lunch not included. Afterwards, transfer by private car or regular bus back to Salvador. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel or directly to the airport.
