About the Tour

The museum’s collection mainly consists of items from the 17th to 19th centuries, including furniture, silverware, crystal, jewelry, Chinese and English porcelain, paintings by Bahian and foreign artists, tapestries, etc.
Next, visit the Museum of Sacred Art, located in the former Convent of Santa Tereza, which housed Carmelite nuns. From there, enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay of All Saints. The museum’s collection consists of objects from the 16th to 19th centuries, all of religious nature.
The tour continues to the Historic Center to visit the Afro-Brazilian Museum, housed in the building that once served as the old Medical School. This museum shows the main aspects of African culture in Brazil, with a collection of animist cult objects of African origin and the spectacular wooden panels representing the orixás, carved by Carybé, one of Salvador’s most celebrated artists.
