About the Tour

This tour combines two of the following excursions: Historical Tour and Panoramic Tour, with a lunch break in the Historic Center or another city restaurant (to be arranged in advance).

Guided tour, departure towards Cidade Alta. On the way, a stop at the Barra Lighthouse offers a panoramic view of the entrance to Todos os Santos Bay. Continue along Corredor da Vitória, an avenue still home to some imposing mansions. Arrival at the historic center, at Tomé de Souza Square. From a belvedere, one can admire the Lower City, the port, the Mercado Modelo, and the Lacerda Elevator, which connects both parts of the city. From this point, the rest of the visit is on foot. Walk through Terreiro de Jesus Square. Visit to the Cathedral and the São Francisco Church (1713), built in Portuguese Baroque style, considered the most sumptuous in Brazil. Lunch: Bahian cuisine. In the afternoon, departure towards the Lower City districts. Visit to the Church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. Inaugurated in 1754, it is one of Brazil’s most popular churches and the most representative of the country’s religious syncretism. Arrival at the city’s largest handicraft market, the famous Mercado Modelo, which gathers crafts from Bahia and the Northeast. Return to the hotel.
